Hello from South Korea!

Hello, who are you, what are you doing?

Hello from South Korea!

Postby truddick on Sun May 31, 2009 2:21 pm

I just came across this blog and website and I'm so glad I did! I'm an American living in South Korea with dreams of becoming a development worker. Although I feel stuck in the Catch22 of can't get a job because I don't have experience and can't get experience because I don't have a job....so, in the meantime I'm building experience just being out in the world and learning and growing. As they say, you can't help others until you help yourself, and I truly believe that. Working on grounded idealism and hoping one day for a break and a chance to prove myself in the humanitarian world!

Thanks for all the wonderful information and honest perspectives you provide on this site!

Hi Truddick!

Welcome on the blog, and welcome to the forum!

Many feel, just like you, to be in a catch22 situation when trying to enter the humanitarian (or aid) field... Don't give up.. Once you are in, it goes a lot smoother..

I hope you have read this post where I summarized most of the advice I could give to people who want to get into the development work...

All the best, and once again, welcome!
